County players took home $500K from lottery in 2004

Douglas County residents who played the Oregon Lottery in 2004 came home with a total of $517,124 in prizes.

Winston resident Eugene Schuster received the largest portion of those winnings, claiming a $100,000 Powerball prize, according to an Oregon Lottery press release.

Other winners included Sutherlin resident Barbara Davis, who received $40,000 in a "Jumble" Scratch-it game; Roseburg resident Virginia Roberts, who won $28,445 playing Keno; and Roseburg resident Michelle Gautney, who won $20,225 also playing Keno.

People living in Azalea, Camas Valley, Canyonville, Days Creek, Dillard, Drain, Elkton, Fall Creek, Glendale, Myrtle Creek, Oakland, Reedsport, Riddle, Scottsburg, Sunny Valley, Tenmile, Wolf Creek and Yoncalla also claimed prizes.

Overall, 11 winners claimed prizes of $5,000 or more and a total of 183 winners claimed prizes of $600 or more.

Since the Oregon Lottery was established in 1985, more than $4 billion has been allotted for economic development, public education and natural resources programs, and it has paid players more than $10 billion in prizes.
