Stearns Lane closed at Exit 138 this weekend

Print Comment
OAKLAND -- Stearns Lane will be temporarily closed this weekend to allow for road reconstruction near Interstate 5 Exit 138.

The closure will begin at 7 p.m. Friday and end at 6 a.m. Monday.

The closure is to update the roadway and improve vertical clearance. The work is part of a $40 million project that repairs two bridges and replaces eight others.

Drivers headed east into Oakland via Stearns Lane will have to get onto the freeway to bypass the closure.

The easiest route is to get onto I-5 going south at the Exit 138 interchange and get off the freeway again at Exit 136.

Then, get back onto I-5 going north and exit the freeway again at Exit 138.

Drivers traveling from Oakland to southbound I-5 should turn left onto State Street and travel south to Sutherlin, turning right onto Central Avenue.

Drivers should watch for appropriate southbound I-5 signs.

Drivers traveling north on I-5 to Stearns Lane should use Exit 136 and travel west on Highway 138, turning right onto Stearns Lane.

Eastbound traffic entering Stearns Lane from I-5 Exit 138 is not affected by the construction work.
