MEDFORD Senior wing Kristi Fallin scored 17 points to lead three players in double figures as the Roseburg High girls basketball team stomped South Medford, 74-30, Tuesday in a Southwest Conference game.
Katie Wilton added 12 points and Tracy Filley had 11 as the Indians built a 47-14 halftime lead over the winless Panthers.
We talked about coming out with energy and leaving no doubt, said Roseburg coach Jeff Thomas, whose team improved to 7-2 in the SWC and 15-3 overall.
We were sharp on offense and we did what we had to do on defense. I was especially pleased with how we came out in the first half.
Thomas credited Filley with playing one of her best games of the season despite feeling ill before the game.
The Tribe dominated the paint, outrebounding the Panthers 37-15. Fallin grabbed seven rebounds, while Tanya Johnston had six and Filley four.
Julie Piper added eight points and Beth Fuller had seven for the Indians, who resume league play Friday at first-place Sheldon. The sixth-ranked Irish won the first meeting, 61-50, on Jan. 16 in Roseburg.
Sheldon is tough to defend because they have three girls who can score, Thomas said. Were not sure of what our game plan is going to be yet. But we have to do a better job on both ends than we did the first time around.
