WINSTON: Two memorial services will occur Sunday afternoon in honor of longtime Wildlife Safari Director Frank Hart.
The services will be held at 2 and 3 p.m. at the park, 1790 Safari Road in Winston. They will be followed at 4 by visits from some of the park’s animals.
Hart, 84, died Aug. 3 in Eugene. His death followed a fall at his Winston home last month, where he suffered a broken neck.
Hart was president of a Southern California real estate company that opened Wildlife Safari in 1973. A year later, Hart traded his ownership interest in the company for control of the park. He poured $350,000 of his own money into the operation and went four years without a salary.
He remained active at the park well into his 70s.
