Nancy and Harold Stockhoff take a break from playing a round of golf to have their picture taken.
Nancy Stockhoff
It has been a little more than four years since my husband Harold passed away.
Back on July 3, 1996, he was playing in the Wednesday night league at Stewart Park golf course when he got his first hole-in-one on hole No. 7.
When he got home, the first thing he said was “Do you know what I did tonight?” He started telling me all about it, walked over to his truck, pulled down the tailgate and said, “Well, where the ---- are my clubs?”
Harold never was one to get too excited, or show much emotion, so I think he was a little excited that night. He went back to the golf course and there they were — on our cart and parked in the shed.
I have had so much fun telling this story, and Harold was a pretty good sport about it.
I have started working on the fourth annual Harold Stockhoff Memorial Golf Tournament at Umpqua Golf Resort in Sutherlin. It will be held May 3. We have raised more than $16,000 now for his scholarship fund at the college and have issued five engineering scholarships totaling $3,500.
