Thousands due for beach cleanup

Print Comment
OREGON COAST: It’s nearing time for the 24th annual Great Oregon Spring Beach Cleanup scheduled for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 on Oregon’s coastline from the Washington to California borders.

During the cleanup of 2007, 5,000 volunteers removed 105,000 pounds of trash from Oregon’s beaches.

Volunteers are asked to check in at one of 44 registrations sites, pick up a bag and head down to the beaches to improve the coastline for wildlife and summer visitors. Coordinators suggest volunteers wear sturdy shoes and bring gloves. Bags will be provided.

Registration sites and volunteer registration and waiver forms can be found at www.solv.org or volunteers can call 800-333-SOLV for more information.
