ROSEBURG: Auditions for Umpqua Actors Community Theatre “Spitfire Grill,” will be held at 6 p.m. April 6, 7 and 8 at the Betty Long Unruh Theatre, 1614 W. Harvard Ave.
Parts are available for women ages 20 through 60 and three men ages 20 through 40. Singers and actors must come with a prepared song that showcases their vocal abilities. The Monday and Tuesday night auditions will include script readings and sight-reading musical selections for the show.
The production is based on a 1989 movie by Lee David Zlotoff and the music was inspired by rural folk music traditions indigenous to Wisconsin and Southern Appalachia.
Needed: Female, mid to late 20s with a wide range from low A to high F, strong solo voice with a definite country-folk style; female, 30s, with solo mezzo soprano range and close harmony experience, C to high G; female, 60s, strong alto, solo voice low G to high C; and female character role, 40s-50s with strong mid-range solo/ensemble voice.
Also needed is a late 20s to 30s male tenor, C to high A; and baritone 30s to 40s with low A to high G range. There is a non-speaking role for a tall, mature man in his early 40s.
The musical opens June 6 and runs through June 29 and is directed by David Jones.
