PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Tribe runners take third at Yreka, S.U.'s Flores wins Dune Run, Sutherlin's Spencer wins Time Trial

YREKA, Calif. — Roseburg’s girls placed third out of 23 teams at the Yreka Elks Invitiational as Bryanna Oelrich placed fifth and Samantha Pettibone was eighth.

Oelrich toured the 4,000-meter course in 16 minutes, 57 seconds and Pettibone was 29 seconds behind.

Crater swept boys and girls team titles and Kayleigh Tyerman won the girls race in 15:31 and Zach Elliott won the 5,000-meter boys race in 16:40.

Salvador Valencia placed 24th to lead the Roseburg boys, who placed 11th.

Flores wins Dune Run

REEDSPORT — South Umpqua’s D.J. Flores got his season off to a good start by winning the Road, Lake and Dune Run at Winchester Bay in 18:24.

Siuslaw dominated the team races, sweeping the second through fifth places on the boys side while Clarita Twombly and Raelyn Robinson ran 1-2 in the girls race.

South Umpqua was third in the boys team standings and Reedsport fourth.

North Douglas’ Tyson Tinnes was seventh in 19:37. Reedsport freshman Lindsey Wright was eighth in the girls race in 25:10.

Spencer wins Time Trial

COTTAGE GROVE — Chelsea Spencer won a two-mile time trial at Cottage Grove High School in 13:15, 23 seconds ahead of runner-up Patricia Guterrez of Cottage Grove. Mykayla Young placed fifth. Crow’s Brandon Bouchet won the boys race in 11:45.
